Brewery Basanina is an artisanal family brewery in Smetlede, which has been brewing beer in a modest way since 1998, mainly for local sales and consumption in the brewery's café. Brewer Bart de Wolf was inspired by a local benefactor, Pastor Glorieux, for his beer Père Glorieux. With his newest beer from 2016, the Saison du Lucien, he brings an ode to the legendary Tour winner Lucien van Impe, from neighboring Mere. Bart De Wolf exclusively uses Belgian hops and grows his own yeast strains.
