The beer has been brewed since 2011 in Brouwerij Van Steenberge in Ertvelde. The beer was an idea by Joris van Eetvelde from Lokeren and comic strip artist from the Urbanus comic books Willy Linthout, also from Lokeren, was immediately enthusiastic. Cesar is the father of Urbanus in the comic series.
