Geuzestekerij Parrain is a company owned by Thomas and Julie Debelder. The Debelder family is a household name in the beer world. Grandfather Gaston took over the café and the gueuze stekerij in 1953 from Jean-Baptiste Vanderlinden, who was then mayor of Beersel. The name changed to gueuzestekerij 3 Fonteinen and Gaston turned the café at the church of Beersel into a restaurant. His sons Armand and Guido took over the restaurant at the end of the 1980s. In the 1990s, Armand Debelder started brewing lambic beers and blending gueuze. He became an icon in the lambic world. Guido continued to run the restaurant in the meantime.

In 2022, Thomas and Julie Debelder decided to follow in the footsteps of their father Guido, uncle Armand and grandfather Gaston Debelder to start blending gueuze again in the cellar of restaurant 3 Fonteinen. To avoid confusion with the current brewery of the same name, they also deliberately gave their company a different name. ‘Parrain’ is a tribute to grandfather Gaston and their uncle Armand.
